Roaming not working !

I bought 35 EU roaming texts and 15 EU roaming minutes before I left I'm in lanzarote and I can't send texts or make calls

I want to use a satnav app in uk and France but not sure if this would be prohibitive cost wise. Is it a matter of an EU add on and would it be used up very quickly. Using it with my current Guido membership stopped when I entered N Irl
