If I upgrade from a 4G sim to an unlimited 5G deal, does my SIM card stay the same or do I get a new one?

When I transferred my old number to 48, did I have to change the SIM card in my phone to 48? My payment is visible in my profile for the 48 app - it is 12.99 + 12.99, valid until September 2027.
