Lost my phone with sim inside it.

So I've lost my phone with the sim inside it and i've had the number for ages now and i want to retrive my phone number what do i do? i also have brand new 48 sim card next to me so i dont have to order a new one. Is it possible to transfer my old number on the new 48 sim? and how?

Obviously until your lost/stolen SIM is disabled somebody can use your membership/credit etc. unless the phone is password locked or whatever.
