have credit but cant call or text,why?

My balance says that I have €20 in my account  but it wont let me send messages or call, why is this and what should I do?

Have you selected a membership? Calls/texts/ Data wont work Unless a membership is current...

What does your My 48 page say about your current membership status, expiry date and allowance balances?

As 1amcn says you need an active membership and membership or add-on allowances to be able to call/text.

Even services that are charged from your cash credit balance (e.g. international calls/texts, MMS, certain landline calls etc.) will only work if you have an active membership.

 

48 is a bit different to other pay as you go services in that you generally need to have a monthly membership in place to use most services.
