You mean no connection to the 48 network/signal bars at all while inside the house?
That suggests that the house is completely blocking the mobile signal which would be unusual - but not impossible.
Has any phone/SIM/network ever worked inside the house?
If you want to use a 48 SIM in a 4G/5G modem/router/dongle to give other devices access to broadband via the 48 mobile data network then you need to configure the APN settings for the device appropriately.
Such configuration is normally done by connecting a browser to the web based configuration interface for the device.
You'll need to refer to the device's user manual to find out how to do this.
Many people - including myself - have successfully used a 48 SIM in such a device.
But if the 48 mobile network signal is being completely blocked inside your house I don't really see how this is going to work?
Unless you plan to use an antenna connected to the dongle rise can be mounted outdoors where the signal can be received?
You also mention WiFi but it's not clear if you actually mean 4G/5G mobile data?
If you need to contact 48 support about this then see the links in my signature below.

What make and model of dongle is it?
Normally 3/4/5G dongles can be configured - in particular the APN settings.
Are you sure that it's unlocked for use on any network or maybe it's locked to Tesco?
The APN settings for the phone are separate to the APN settings for a 3/4/5G modem/router/dongle.
48 don't block the use of their SIMs in any device.
