Some people cannot call or txt me since I ported my number

Hi all. I've discovered that several people cannot call or txt me since I moved to 48, but they can reach me via Whatsapp. As this also includes my Online Banking App verification code, it is very frustrating. The Tech dept in 48 are looking into it, but so far no solution in sight. Has anyone had a similar problem, and found a solution? TIA, John.

Yes, several people have reported similar problems over the years.

Only 48 will be able to fix this for you so keep dealing with them about it.

I am not a 48 employee - if you need to contact 48 support you can do so by chat, email (support@48months.zendesk.com) or phone.

BTW can you call/text the numbers in question?

If not then what happens?

What happens at their end when they call or text you?

Any error messages?

Hiya. I can call, txt them no problem. But they get a msg 'The person you are calling is unable to take your call at present'.
One friend actually deleted my contact details and re entered them, but no joy.
I called him, fine, but he tried calling me back straight away, no luck. He was sitting right beside me! He then used WhatsApp, with no problems at all. I'm very frustrated with this, especially as I cannot use my online banking app now.

Sounds like a split port issue where the routing of your number hasn't updated correctly between the two operators, where either your previous carrier or 48 haven't updated your number routing correctly.

For example, If your previous carrier has your number still listed as theirs because of some error during porting then anyone with that carrier won't be able to contact you until the record gets updated which can be requested by 48.

I had a similar issue a few years ago. Eir eventually did sort it out for me but it is an annoying issue that takes time as it sometimes involves your current carrier having to contact your previous carrier to update their routing of your number.

Eir had me get a phone call or text from three different phone numbers that couldn't contact me, with the SIM in another phone, before they would look into the issue. I had to give them the IMEI of the phone and the phone numbers of the calls and texts so they could look to see what was happening on the system.

Just make sure to keep asking 48 is this a split port issue, is my number being routed correctly.

Is your previous carrier SIM working at all still? Are the phone numbers that are trying to ring and text you from the same carrier? All this info would help when contacting them.

Great info. Thank you !
