What make and model is the phone?

Did you always get this message while on 48?

Can you definitely make and receive calls ok?

Maybe try a replacement SIM in case the SIM is faulty?

I just got back from France where I'd had to make manual changes to my APN to get Roaming to work. On return I got the dreaded "48|Emergency Calls only" message when my wife's phone (also on 48) worked fine.

Switching SIM to another phone got me the same error message, so doubtful the phone is the problem, more likely the SIM card as point of failure here. At which point I ordered a new SIM.

But tinkering around in one last effort to sort, I found going to the 48 SIM Menu app then to When Abroad->Select Mode->Automatic got me back on the network. That had been set to manual, probably as a result of me having to manually modify APN settings in France to get Roaming to work.

Just in case others have the same problem and want to try this. Otherwise my go to solution these days is a new SIM, since solving these problems can take hours of sometimes fruitless searching around.

If anyone from 48 reads this, it might be helpful to know why this was the fix that worked?

Isn't this explained here, under the heading "Returned Home?":

If you need further assistance/clarification on this then you'll probably need to contact 48 support.

Yes, and thanks a mill. But I'd hardly have found that (easily) under "The Roaming Troubleshooting Guide" given I'd returned not out there looking to roam... Logical search (for me) was of course "48|Emergency Calls only" since that was the problem.

Maybe a "Returning after Roaming Guide" would help with "48|Emergency Calls only" in there somewhere to help search algorithm? Any which way, thanks and it's hopefully flagged here now for others.
