I have a nokia lumia 820 and I went to a nokia care point to find out that my phone is write off... I broke the pins in the sim slot, is there any way at all I can use 48 months without the 48 sim in the phone

I doubt that you can use it for any network without the network specific SIM in it. Can you not get the SIM slot/pins repaired? It looks like it is possible judging by this random link (which is for info only and not a recommendation or anything as I know nothing about this UK based outfit):

I doubt that it's much use but you may still be able to use it on wifi or bluetooth only even if it cannot detect a SIM...
