No connection for calls or data

I got a new iphone over the weekend which was working intermittently when I switched over and installed my old 48 sim card but now I have zero connection to 48 network, I can't make or receive calls or connect to data. I've ordered a replacement sim but why did it work for a day and now I've go nothing?

It could be the iPhone activation issue:

Could you try your SIM in your old phone or another unlocked non iPhone phone just to check that the SIM is working?

Hello - just returned from Spain back to Ireland. My phone has no mobile network in Ireland now. No calls or data available. Any advice?
