Sim card not working

My 48 sim has been not working since the last 2 days , my phone shows no sim even after i have taken out the sim and tried putting it back and restarting the phone , i have also reordered a sim , can you let me know what should i do

Did anything change on the phone before it stopped working? 

E.g. phone software update, settings changes, factory reset/restore, new phone handset, returned from roaming abroad, etc.?

Is "no SIM" the verbatim message on the phone? 

What make and model of phone is it? 

Can you try the SIM in another unlocked phone to see if it works there?

Did you order a replacement SIM rather than a new SIM?
