Hi! I have the same issue, initially I thought it's because I'm out of Ireland.
Did you manage to fix this or is it still ongoing? If you did, care to share how? If not, can anyone help?

Did it ever work for either of you?
Can you sent messages?
Is the message storage/memory on your phone full?
What happens at the sender's end - e.g. message failed, error message etc.?
