I've put in the 48 sim card and and went through the stages but have not received a security code text from 48 that I can put in for the next stage after asking to resend numerous times. Do not have my old sim card

You mean the number porting security code?
That goes to the number that you're trying to port so needs the old provider's SIM in the phone and working in order to receive it.
If you can't get your old SIM working to receive this then you'll have to contact 48 support and ask them what needs to happen.
