bought the phone month or two ago, put internet settings on, worked fine.
about 2 weeks ago 3g stopped working, fiddled around a bit and it randomly started working again.
past 3 days hasnt been working and trying to get it working today and to no help
all my settings are the same as before

and yes roaming data is turned on
i dont use it much as im usually connected to the wifi, but i know if i leave on a trip im going to need it and it wont work.

If you're going on a trip abroad then it's not going to work anyway as 48 don't support data abroad.
Those settings look OK to me and work for me so I don't know why they're not working for you.
Are you sure that you toggled airplane mode on and then off or rebooted after making any changes to the settings?
