How to get mobile data usage history?

I was wondering where and how can I get my data usage history It's the first time I used all the limit

Most smartphones these days have some sort of built-in data monitor showing your approximate data usage in total and by application. 

There are also free and paid apps that do something similar and maybe offer more detail/flexibility.

You should probably use those to check what apps are using most data?
