Returned spsinnow stopped working

My cousin asked me to post on his behalf. He just came back from a week in Spsin and since returning to Ireland his sim stopped working

Yeah - I just don't understand why situations sometimes arise whereby a user has to get a replacement SIM from 48. As if whatever happened rendered the SIM unusable. SIMs are pretty robust so it's difficult to know why they would stop working and necessitate replacement. I guess only 48 can explain.
