I'm going to Panama this weekend and wondered how much it will cost to text and receive texts to and from Ireland? And my membership runs out this week.. Will I need to buy a new membership before I go or can I just add credit to my account?

I don't think that your 48 SIM is going to work in Panama.

As far as I know 48 only support roaming in EU/Europe, Oceania and North America.

Certainly Panama is not listed as a supported roaming destination here:

In general though you need a membership to be able to use any services.
