Can't connect to voicemail - iPhone 4S

Hi - I'm trying to connect to voicemail for the first time on my iPhone 4S, having just upgraded to OS7.0.  When I press the voicemail button, I get a "Cannot Connect to Voicemail" alert, and "call your service provider for assistance." I can get into voicemail by dialling 171, and all diverts are set up correctly, but that's boring. Can anyone help? I'm on the "Don" plan.

Was this working before the iOS7 upgrade? If so it sounds like the upgrade broke something in the iPhone voicemail configuration. I doubt that it's a carrier/48 problem per se or at all. A quick Google for iOS7 and voicemail problems throws up a few links so maybe this is a known/common issue?
