How can I keep my 48.ie number while abroad (outside the EU

I’m currently using a 48.ie SIM card, but soon I’ll be travelling to a non-EU country for a long period. I would like to keep my Irish phone number active, just in case I need it later or return to Ireland in the future.

However, while I’m abroad, I won’t be using this number for calls, texts, or data. I’m simply hoping to keep the number from being deactivated or reassigned, ideally with as little cost as possible.

Is there any low-cost plan, top-up method, or setting that allows me to retain my number without regular usage?

I believe others might have faced the same situation, so I’d really appreciate any advice or tips. Thank you!
