What exactly do you mean by "shut off"?
What are the symptoms of the problem?
Are there any error messages on the phone?
Does it have a connection to the 48 network/signal bars?
Are any services working? Calls, texts, mobile data?
What happens when he logs into his My48 account?
Any messages there?
Could it be that no membership plan was purchased for 6+ months so that the SIM got suspended?
If that's the case then he needs to contact 48 support to get it working again.
If that doesn't help then you'll have to explain the issue in more detail.
