New sim not working

  1. So I ordered 2 new sims, one for my phone and one for my son last month specifically for travelling abroad. Before  reaching Prague our phones were switched off. They were turned on again but unfortunately didn't automatically connect to a network ,with my son's phone after following all the advice I eventually had to resort to deleting the APN's and just filling in the top two lines. His phone eventually worked. I thought the new sims did away  with this issues.
  2. Any help would be appreciated
