Data switched to roaming but not abroad

A few weeks ago my data switched to 'R' and is no longer working saying that I need to switch on roaming. I am not abroad and roaming is not an add on I have nor need. How can this be resolved? I have tried rebooting.

You need roaming enabled for data to work on 48.
48 is a virtual network and most phones think that they're roaming while on it.
Just enable it.
You can't incur additional charges even if your phone warns that you may.

It's nothing to do with add-ons.
You just need to enable the roaming option in your phone's settings.

Great, glad it helped.
It can be a bit confusing that you need roaming enabled on a "virtual" network such as 48 but that's just the way it works.
Same on other virtual networks such as Tesco, Lyca etc.
As I mentioned some phones will warn about potential additional charges when you enable data roaming but you can safely ignore this warning on 48.
