Did you mean:

Data sim card versus mobile ( calls ) card?

I purchased a modem  which was not working -- in the chat with the supplier they said that I needed a Data Sim card as opposed to a standard SIM card -- does this mean my 48 Sim card does not work? Do 48 have a separate Data Sim card that can be sent instead -- I only want to use data so that my parents can use a tablet for Zoom calls.

I don't know what they're talking about.
There's no "data SIM" and you just need a regular 48 SIM.
But you also need to activate the SIM (possibly using an unlocked phone) and then insert it into the router and configure the 48 APN settings and SIM PIN (unless you first disable that) for the router to work with the 48 SIM.

Hope this helps.

I am not a 48 employee - if you need to contact 48 support you can do so by chat, email (support@48months.zendesk.com) or phone.
