Update to IOS 26.0.2, resulting to Sim not recognised.

Hi, I'm Apple 15 Pro user. Last night my phone had automatic update to IOS26.0.2. When I woke up this morning, my 48 sim is not recognised, obviously no call/text and internet. I'm using wifi now. Phone setting says "No Sim Inserted". I tried taking out the sim and insert again, restarted the phone, airplane mode, network reset, anything, same issue. I'm just wondering if anyone experienced this and sorted. I don't want to change number or provider. Apple Support says contact service carrier.

Hi again, got the replacement sim. It works now, I just retained my old number.

I have two suggestions...

  1. Put €1 cash credit on your account, restart the phone, wait a while, and see if it kicks into life. The rationale here is that the iOS update might require the iPhone to go through the silly Apple activation process again. This involves the phone silently sending an SMS to a UK activation server and if there isn't sufficient cash credit on your account to pay for the international text message then this process will fail silently.
  2. Try a replacement SIM. The rationale here is that maybe the iOS update means that the phone now needs a class C/1.8V SIM and your existing SIM is class B. This is probably unlikely but maybe a new SIM might work for some other reason.

Otherwise you'll have to contact 48 support for further assistance. Although I can see them telling you that you need to contact Apple since the update caused the problem.

Judging by Reddit, many people have experienced this problem...

It's also reported many times on other sites too.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any definitive fix.

Sounds like an Apple mess up.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. Appreciate it. I tried the 1st one but sadly same issue. I already ordered a replacement sim and just waiting for it to arrive. I've also messaged 48 support about this. Hopefully this gets resolved already, it's hassle doing transactions without it e.g., OTPs, etc.

Was there anything else useful in other reports of the same issue that I mentioned here?

Can you downgrade the iOS version to the previous version that you were using to see if things work again on that?

I think that Apple are copping out if they're telling you that it's not their problem to be honest.

That's great @DomenicC7853 - glad that that sorted it although it's not really clear why.

I presume you mean that you ordered and activated a replacement SIM and it's still associated with your existing phone number, membership plan, My48 account etc.?

Thanks for posting back with your resolution as it may help others in the same situation.
