SIM Card Activation

I am a long term 48 customer. I received an email suggesting that I get an updated SIM Card I have received, but it will not activate..  When I enter the activation number, it says to enter the correct number, but the number I am entering is correct. Do you thin the SIM is defective?  I have sought help on the helpline without success
