Using 48 abroad

Hey,
I have recently been to Czech Republic and Germany, bought the appropriate add-ons so that I could make calls, send texts or whatever but when I got there, my phone was "searching..." for a network for the duration of my trip. I checked on the 48 website what countries were included in the roaming add-on and both Germany and Czech Republic were on the list.
I would just like to know why is it that I was not able to find a network abroad when all other networks were able to connect to a network?

This is a common problem with iPhones when roaming.
