Hi all. I swapped over to 48 yesterday and ported my number across. I am able to receive calls and texts so the sim is working. However I am unable to purchase a plan or top up so I am unable to make calls. I have contacted customer care and they raised a ticket and have advised it can take 7 to 10 days for the technical team to look into the issue. Has anyone experienced this before??

What happens when you try here?
Any error messages?
Are your payment card details correct, the card valid, and there's money in the account if it's a debit card?
Judging by posts here on the Community Forum some users do seem to have problems making purchases on 48 from time to time.
Unfortunately few if any of them ever post back with additional clarifying/diagnostic information when asked so it's difficult to know what exactly is going on in each case and if there's any commonality between the different cases.
I think that the 7 to 10 days thing is just a placeholder and it shouldn't take that long to get a reply from support in practice?
Do you know anybody else on 48 who might be able to try buying you a membership plan via the Gift Shop as a workaround and then you could reimburse them?
On the other hand this may also fail if the problem is at the back end with your 48 account.

No issue with the card used. I have also tried the gift shop to purchase the plan but when I enter my number it comes up as unavailable!

Ok, you'll have to persist with 48 support so as only they will have the necessary visibility to investigate and fix this issue for you.
