Obviously 48 is rushing to save the bacon and offering everyone a no cost 5G upgrade. Is 5G really that important as they seem to think?
No. At least to the average user. I'd have liked more if they offered price reduction on the plans or free international minutes.
Being on a €10.99 plan, 100 GB cap, international calls for 23.37 cents but free 5G.
Others have the €8.99 plan, 1000 GB, plus 100 free international mins.
Why do 48 and GoMo think that 5G is be-all and end-all in this case?

There's no €8.99 plan or free international call minutes on 48.

Why don't you contact 48 support and ask them?

Ok, thank you!
The 'others' was meant to be Lidl's plan.
Offering 5G to everyone, in my eyes, is pointless. Those who wanted it, have got it already, those who didn't, it represents no added value.
What if the user's phone is 4G capable only?
I don't know, what 48 were thinking.
