Phone number wrong on purchasing membership

My sim came today and I tried to buy the membership, everything went well until the verification process on verifying my purchaseof membership. It told me it had sent an text message with the verification numbers to a number that was nearly the same as my current phone number but the first digit was different. The phone number connected to my card is correct and I have no idea why its different. Anybody know what's wrong?
