This has happened a number of times since I switched to 48.ie. I have a 12.99 plan that has been automatically paid from my bank account (auto-renew is 'on', and I saw the money leave my bank account yesterday). Yet today, 48.ie tells me I do not have an active plan, so I cannot make any calls.
In my account I see that my credit balance is €9.78. Why, if I paid 12.99 yesterday?

I just added an extra €10 to my account to see if that would help. It hasn't. I now have 19.78 in my account and the dashboard still tells me I do not have an active plan. WTH does it mean "you do not have an active plan"????? I HAD AN ACTIVE PLAN! WHY IS IT NOT ACTIVE? You cannot rug-pull like this.

Exact same here. Waiting on support at the moment. Wonder how many people will upgrade from their old 7.99 plan to the 12.99 today because of this error!!!

Several people seem to be reporting issues with auto-renewal today so there may be some general issue with it.
You'll probably need to contact 48 support to ask them what's going on and to fix the issue with your account.
Nobody here on the Community Forum will have any visibility into your account to know for sure what's happening here.

I spoke to someone in Customer Support:
I asked: Hi, I have no calls or data. Will my plan auto renew on €7.99? I have been on this plan tor years.

Hi, Good morning, and thank you for reaching out to 48 support. Some customers are currently experiencing issues with calls, texts & mobile data due to a technical issue. Our team are working to restore full service. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Yes, if you have been on the 7.99 plan, the auto-renew will be done on the same plan. Rest assured.
