This has been raised many times before - but come on 48!! When are you going to offer Webtext?
Three and Eir both offer this free of charge.
It would be REALLY useful to be able to send - and maybe even receive! - texts from my PC.
Especially if you guys could also synch to my iPhone message app!!!
Even if it had to come out of our plan allowance, it would be better than nothing!
Anyone agree?
Add your message!! Maybe we'll persuade 48 yet!!

Hi - I tried using Airmore, but couldn't see any way to send texts!
Maybe I missed something - or maybe the iOS version doesn't do this?

myPhoneDesktop seems to support sending of messages from the computer via an iPhone - but it's not free:

SMS Helper is another one but it seems to have been removed from the App Store and I don't know if it's still available, if it's free, if it's trustworthy etc.

Of course Apple also have their own proprietary way of doing things if you have a Mac and an iPhone - ho hum...

Hope this helps.

Did that help at all @noelok?

Hi dalyer
I didn't buy the myPhoneDesktop app, but reviewing the blurb and visiting the website, seems to imply that the SMS/Text element, merely allows you to generate the message on the PC, then return it to the phone for actual sending. So not very helpful there.
Also - although there is a real time chat link on their website - it is a faulty link.
Finally, reviews on the app site mention the major difficulties in contacting the company for any support.
There is no sign of the SMS helper - so that may be gone.
I don't have a Mac - so no joy there!
For any such application to be useful, there would have to be a way to access the Contacts already on the iPhone, or to a synched version - e.g. Google contacts - so that texting from the PC could be seamless to the other daily activities.
Ah well - we live in hope!

Fair enough @noelok.
I was just suggesting possible alternatives to webtext because I suspect that there is little chance of 48 offering such a service.
Last time I checked Airdroid worked well for sending texts from the desktop via an android phone.
Pity that, yet again, Apple make it difficult for iPhone users to use their phones productively and with ease...

Yes, would be real handy. Mainly (for me) when I want to cut and paste an email on my desktop into a text message. And of course using a desktop keyboard on a long message is easier.
