New phone not connecting to 48

Hi. My son recently got his first phone. Ordered sim and activated sim and paid activation amount plus membership. It is showing he has a valid membership when we log in. However he cant make calls, send texts or use data? Can anyone help please?

Is the phone unlocked for use on any network or locked to a particular network?
What happens if you do a manual search for networks? What networks appear?
Can you see and connect to 48?
If not then try enabling roaming/data roaming in the settings - as a "virtual" network operating on the Three mobile network these options may need to be enabled.
