No internet on my phone so unable to send messages

Can't get or receive messages. Wonder why?

What sort of messages are you referring to? 

SMS text messages don't depend on mobile data. 

If you can't send or receive SMS text messages then what happens when you try to send one?

Any error messages? 

Is your SMSC number correct?

Can you make and receive calls on your phone? 

Do you have an active membership plan?

Did mobile data ever work on your phone? 

Did you ever configure your APN settings?
