I just purchased an Xiaomi Mi6. I am able to make calls, receive text and connect to WiFi but my mobile data isn't working or connecting. It works when I'm abroad while roaming but doesn't seem to work in Ireland. I changed the APN settings as per the other posts but still no luck!

If you read and follow those instructions carefully you will get it working.
But you do need to read them all and follow them to the letter.

The model of my phone doesn't appear on the list of option but I selected a similar model and still no luck.

You need to configure the settings manually so as this instructions explain.

It worked for a brief period and then turned off again, any suggestions?

Strange.

I have a Xiaomi myself (RedMi Note 3 Pro) and have never had any problem once I configured the settings.

Try configuring them again and see what happens I guess?

Still no luck. I tried to reconfigure the APN again, rebooted and took the sim card out and back in again.

What do you mean?

You configured it and did all that but the settings were lost?

Or just did not work?

If they did not work then chances are you configured something wrong.
