SMS text messages? MMS messages? WhatsApp or other messaging app messages? Email messages? Other?
When was it working ok last?
Can you send the relevant type of message?
What else is/isn't working while you're roaming abroad?
Connection to a local network - i.e. signal bars?
Incoming/outgoing calls?
Incoming/outgoing SMS text messages?
Mobile data?
