We’re making some important updates to better protect your account.

From 21 April, all passwords must meet our updated security requirements. If you’ve updated your password since 4 November, no action is needed. If not, you’ll be prompted to update your password the next time you sign in.

We’re also introducing Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) from 21 April.
When you sign in from a new device or browser, you’ll be asked to verify your identity using a one‑time password (OTP) sent to your registered email address. Once verified, you won’t be asked again on that device or browser.

These changes are designed to enhance your account security and keep your information safe.

Got Questions?

  • Why did I receive an email from 48 (donotreply@48.ie) or an SMS from 50848 asking me to reset my password? : You received this because your password either didn’t meet our updated security requirements or hadn’t been updated recently. Updating it now helps avoid any delay when next signing in.
  • Is there something wrong with my account? : No, your account is secure. This is a proactive update to make it even more secure.
  • Do I have to update my password? : If you haven’t updated your password since 4th of November, yes. From 21st of April, you’ll be asked to reset it when signing in before you can continue.
  • What happens if I don’t have access to my registered email? : You’ll need access to your registered email to reset your password and complete verification when signing in. If you can’t access it, contact our Care team and we’ll help you get back into your account.
  • What are the new password requirements? : Your password must meet our updated security standards, including a mix of letter, numbers, and characters. You’ll see the full requirements when creating or updating your password.
  • Will I need to enter a code every time I Sign In to My48? : No. You’ll only be asked to verify your account when signing in on a new device or browser.
