Getting an error message on my phone

Below are some unwanted but yet familar error message's that can appear on your phone and what the mean. 

 

A good place to start is at the begining with the tried, tested and proven golden rule of troubleshooting. Have you tried turning it off and on again? It sounds cliche but its always a good place to start 😃. 

 

 

Phone asking for a network code/unlock code

This message usually means your phone is locked to your old network.  We do warn you about this before joining!

Phone saying network locked

This message usually means your phone is locked to your old network.  We do warn you about this before joining!

Read our unlocking guide to find out how you can fix this.

 

Phone asking for a restriction code

This message usually means your phone is locked to your old network.  We do warn you about this before joining!

Read our unlocking guide to find out how you can fix this.

 

 

Phone saying SIM locked

This message usually means your phone is locked to your old network.  We do warn you about this before joining!

Phone saying invalid SIM

First thing to try is taking your battery and SIM card out.  Give the SIM a gentle wipe and after 10 seconds put the SIM and battery back in.

 

Still not working?  This could be for a number of reasons so we have a little checklist for you below.

 

 

1. Is your phone unlocked?

  • Yes - Good.  Next question.
  • No – Time to sort that out.  Check our unlocking guide.

 

 

2. Have you activated your SIM ? 

  • Yes - (next question)
  • No - check out our guide here on how to het that fixed.

 

3. Remove your SIM.  

Give the SIM a gentle wipe and after 10 seconds put the SIM and battery back in.

 

Did it work?

  • Yes – Happy days!  You’re welcome.
  • No – Keep reading.

 

4. Are you using an iPhone?

  • Yes - Try the steps in this guide
  • No - Onto number 5....

 

5. Try your SIM in another unlocked phone

  • Worked - Must be a phone problem.
  • Didn’t work – Time to replace the SIM.  order your replacement SIM here 

 

Phone saying no service

Remove your SIM from your phone and give the SIM a gentle wipe and after 10 seconds put the SIM back in.

 

Still not working?  This could be for a number of reasons so we have a little checklist for you below.

 

1. Have you activated your SIM?

  • Yes - (next question)
  • No - This shows you how to get it up and running here

 

2. Are you in the middle of transferring your number to 48?

  • Yes -  Services will return once your numbers been transfered.
  • No – (next question)

 

3. Do you have coverage?

You will need to make sure you are in an area with available coverage.  You can check here 

 

Coverage good (head to next question)

Poor coverage - You need to be in an area with available coverage.

 

 

4. Has your 48 SIM ever worked?

  • Yes - Has anything changed recently?  New phone?  Updated phone software?
  • No – (Onto the next question)

 

 

5. Is your phone unlocked?

  • Yes - (next question)
  • No - Did you miss the memo?  It has to be unlocked to work with 48.  Head here.

 

 

6. Does the SIM work in another unlocked phone?

  • Yes - Not nice news but looks like an issue with your phone.
  • No - Time to order a replacement SIM
