Why do I receive an alert saying "unable to send message" when I try to send an SMS on the Messages App?

You'll need to provide a bit more information than that if you want assistance from the Community Forum.

Is "unable to send message" the full verbatim error message?

Did it ever work?

If so then when did the problem start and did anything change on the phone just beforehand?

Do you get that error message for all texts to any numbers or just for some?

Can you receive texts?

Are incoming/outgoing calls and mobile data working ok?

Do you have an active membership plan in order to be able to use outgoing services?

What make and model of phone is it and what messaging app?

Anything useful here?

Hi Dalyer thanks for your response.
Before joining 48 I sent almost all SMS messages via WhatsApp and the odd message sent via the phones messages app which would send without any issue. Now I'm sending more messages on the messages app. I have an active plan on an iPhone 16 which works as normal and iMessages deliver no problem but I’ve tried a few times recently to send a standard SMS but it won't send and an error message appears saying "TIME SENSITIVE - Message Failed to Send"

You haven't clarified if you get this error for all attempts to send texts to all numbers or just some.

You might find more about this error message and issue on the Apple iPhone support forums.

Thanks, I’ll check out the link.
It's all text messages to all numbers.

It's still not clear to me if standard SMS messages ever worked for you?

Can you try your SIM in another unlocked phone?

If you can and text messages send ok there then the issue is almost certainly with your iPhone.
