I have just recently received an iphone 4s and have to replace my mini sim for a micro sim. I didnt want to lose the use of my phone for a few days so i ordered a new sim instead when i wasnt logged in. I am told that once i receive this i can contact 48 to transfer my account and my number onto this sim card. Is this true? And if so how do I go about changing the details onto this sim?

Yes absolutely!
Here's a line from the guide for reference -
You will need to let them know your new SIM number and your email address.
They can swap over your account to the New SIM and will let you know when it’s complete.
