I presume they use a premium SMS 5xxxx number for it that you need to text to?

Assuming that to be the case - no - you cannot enter using 48.

48 does not allow texts to be sent to premium SMS 5xxxx numbers.

That’s a shame considering I put extra credit on my phone for this reason

48 don't support the sending of texts to premium SMS 5xxxx numbers even if you have cash credit on your account.

What led you to believe that you could send them if you put cash credit on your account?

You can use your cash credit to buy membership or add-ons instead.
