Hi my sim which was with eir originally has not been used in a long time and has become deactivated so no text to confirm my number change can I get an email instead as current sim is not activated

You'll have to contact Eir to see if they can do anything.

If your current SIM isn’t active and your unable to receive SMS to the number you want to keep, you’ll need to contact your old provider regarding your account. Your current number and SIM need to be active to move to 48.

Your number may no longer be available to port depending on how long "a long time" is.
