What is Flexi Data?
With Flexi Data, you're in control of your data. Whether you want to save it for later, swap minutes for extra GB, share it with a friend, borrow some when you're running low or even donate it to charity, the choice is yours.
You can access all Flexi Data features through your My48 account.
Who can use Flexi Data?
Flexi Data is included with our current plans.
You'll need an active plan to use Flexi Data features. If you don't see these features in your My48 account, you may be on an older plan.
Where do I find Flexi Data?
Log in to your My48 account on 48.ie or open the My48 app, then tap Flexi Data from the navigation menu.
Swap
What is Swap?
Not much of a talker? Swap lets you exchange unused minutes for extra data during your current plan.

Before you swap
- Swap up to 300 minutes per plan.
- Swapped data must be used before your current plan ends.
How to Swap
Open Flexi Data > Select Swap > Choose how many minutes you'd like to exchange > Tap Save.
Your extra data will be added to your allowance immediately.
Spot Me
What is Spot Me?
Running low on data? Spot Me lets you borrow 1GB from your next plan, so you can stay connected.
Before you borrow
- Borrow up to 1GB per plan.
- Your borrowed data is available immediately and can be used until your current plan ends.
- We'll automatically deduct the borrowed 1GB from your next plan allowance.
How to use Spot Me
Open Flexi Data > Select Spot Me > Follow the on-screen steps.
Share
What is Share?
Need a little extra data? Or feeling generous? Share lets you send or request data with friends directly through the My48 app.
Before you share
- Share is available in the My48 app only.
- Both you and your friend must:
- Have the My48 app installed.
- Allow the app access to your contacts.
- Share up to 3GB per plan, in 1GB increments.
- Receive up to 3GB per plan, in 1GB increments.
- Shared data must be used before your current plan ends.
How to share data
Open Flexi Data > Select Share > Choose your friend > Confirm the amount.
Can't see your friend? They'll need to have the My48 app installed and allow access to their contacts before they'll appear in your list.
How to request data
Open Flexi Data > Select Share > Choose your friend > Send your request.
Your friend will receive a notification in their My48 app and can decide whether they'd like to send you some GB.
The Safe
What is The Safe?
Want to save some data for another day? The Safe lets you store unused data now and use it whenever you need it later.
How it works
- Save between 1GB and 5GB per plan.
- Make one deposit per plan.
- Store up to 50GB.
- Saved data stays in The Safe for 12 months from the date it's deposited.
Where can I find The Safe?
You can access The Safe from the Flexi Data menu or by swiping left on your My48 dashboard.
How to save data
Open Flexi Data > Select Safe > Choose how much data you'd like to save > Tap Save.
How to unlock data
Open Safe > Select Unlock > Choose how much data you'd like to retrieve > Tap Confirm.
Any data you unlock must be used before your current plan ends.
Carryover
What is Carryover?
Not ready to use all your data? Carryover lets you move up to 5GB from your current plan into your next one, ready to use when your new plan starts.
Before you carry over
- Carry over up to 5GB per plan.
- Make one Carryover transaction per plan.
- Renew your next plan within 48 hours of your current plan ending to keep your carried-over data.
- Carried-over data must be used during your next plan or it will expire.
If you use Auto Renew or have stacked your plans, you don't need to worry about the 48-hour renewal window.
How to carry over data
Open Flexi Data > Select Carryover > Choose how much data you'd like to carry over > Tap Confirm.
Donate
What is Donate?
Got data you won't use? Donate it instead. We'll convert your unused GB into a cash donation for our charity partners, helping make a difference without wasting your data.
Good to know
- Donate between 1GB and 5GB per plan.
- Make one donation per plan.
- Every 1GB donated is worth €0.10, which we'll donate on your behalf.
- Donations are made to our charity partners every six months.
How to Donate
Open Flexi Data > Select Donate > Choose how much data you'd like to donate > Tap Save.
View your total donations
Open Flexi Data > Select Donate > Scroll to Total Donations.
Important information
- Data added through Swap, Spot Me, Share and The Safe must be used before your current plan ends.
- You can only choose one of the following options per active plan: Save, Carryover or Donate. Once you've used one of these features, the other two won't be available until your next plan.
