Activate SIM without buying membership?

Hi, I am trying to activate my new 48 sim. Got it in the post & it says I can try before I buy a plan. When I try to activate, it automatically looks for payment. Anyone any solution please? I would like to test before committing as I was badly burnt by 3 & am mindful now. Thanks a mil.

You should be able to activate it without buying a membership plan.

If you still have problems then you'll probably have to contact 48 support for further assistance.

Note that without a membership you'll only be able to test using the free/trial 1GB 4G/LTE mobile data allowance.

You won't be able to test calls and texts.
