Timing of move from Vodafone to 48

My vodafone contract runs out in 2 days time. I currently have a 48.ie sim. Do I need to wait until my existing contract runs out before I activate it?

No. You can activate the 48 SIM and optionally port your number any time.

In fact you should probably port your number from Vodafone to 48 while you still have a service with Vodafone and you can receive the number porting security text.

If you leave it until you no longer have a service from Vodafone then it will make the porting process more complicated:

If your old network SIM has no service or you can't receive the security code SMS, then you will need to make contact with your old provider as they will have visibility of your old account.

You'll have to check with Vodafone if there might be any implications at their end by porting your number before your Vodafone contract is up.
