If Vodafone can't help then you may be out of luck and may have lost the number.

Contacting the old provider in such circumstances is what the key post says:

https://community.48.ie/t5/The-Knowledge-Base/Getting-Started-Moving-Your-Number/ta-p/53100

If your old network SIM has no service or you can't receive the security code SMS, then you will need to make contact with your old provider as they will have visibility of your old account.

I don't think that the new provider (in this case 48) can do anything in such circumstances.

But if you need to contact 48 support just in case they can do something then see the link in my signature below or email them at support@48months.zendesk.com

I want to move my old number from Vodafone to 48 but I don’t have access to the number anymore since I cancelled my plan and I can’t get a verification code? I asked Vodafone and they said they can’t help since the account is closed, is there any other way to keep your number other then getting a verification code
