Are your sure that the iPhone is unlocked for use on any network?

If not then you'll need to unlock it first.

If it is unlocked then you may need to put €1 cash credit on your account to cover the cost of the UK SMS message that the phone will send silently to a UK Apple/iPhone activation server to get set up on some networks.

Unfortunately this is the silly and complicated process that Apple insists on.

So, I would suggest:

Put €1 cash credit on your account

Switch the iPhone off and then on again

Wait a little while and see if the SIM starts working

You'll also need to configure the APN settings
