iPhone 6 -iOS 10 not working in France or Thailand

Hi my iPhone 6 won't work in France or Thailand but did work in the uk.
No service is showing all the time.
Carrier is set to automatic and won't allow me to turn this off. Sometimes the carrier option disappears all together.
My phone had a pop up message tell me to update carrier settings, I done that but made no difference. Anyhow and help please?

It's never going to work in Thailand because 48 don't support roaming there.

If it's not working in France then it could be the usual iPhone roaming problem due to the stupid way that Apple do things.

You may have to try this and it can take many attempts before it works.

Toggling airplane mode on and then off and then quickly trying it may help to get the phone to "catch" the local network briefly allowing the configuration changes to be made.
