Cannot download photos sent to me via text

Hi, I have a Samsung GT-S7580 phone. I know it's not the most modern of phones! I have been sent a text message containing photos. i I have selected the download option on the text but it isn't downloading photo.. it has been saying 'Downloading' for several hours! Any advice for me? Many thanks.

Text messages with pictures are most likely MMS multimedia messages.
To download these your internet/MMS APN settings need to be configured correctly.

You also need a data allowance to allow you to download MMS pictures.

If you want to send MMS/picture messages then you also need cash credit to pay for them (30c per MMS).
