I'm from Ireland and going to London tomorrow. I'm wondering will my iPhone definitrly work when I go abroad as I had some trouble with it in the past? Do I need to do anything except buy some roaming txts?

You need to be aware of this:

iPhone abroad issue

You'll also need cash credit to make/receive calls unless you buy an EU roaming calls add-on.

And cash credit to cover outgoing texts unless you buy an EU roaming texts add-on.
