Sounds like you should have ordered a replacement SIM and not a brand new one?

https://community.48.ie/t5/The-Knowledgebase/You-need-a-new-SIM/ta-p/8487

With a replacement SIM you keep your existing number, account, credit etc.

With a new one you're starting from scratch as if you were a new customer.

You probably need to contact 48 support about this.

Hello, i had a recent problem with 48 so i ordered a new sim, I have activated it but i have not topped up, as i had to get a new number last week due to 48. Anyways i have my new 48 sim in my d phone. Should it be able to receive texts without topping up? It is very frustrating, i am eager to keep my old number. So what im wondering is, should there need to be credit in the phone to recieve calls/ texts. I qm reluctant to top it up nw with the bad experience ive had.
