Hi im looking to change my carrier from 48 to Vodafone as I am travelling to America tomorrow. However Vodafone has told me that I must contact 48 to get the number transferred over to them.

Vodafone are wrong - you contact Vodafone and ask THEM to port the number over from 48 to Vodafone.

By the way 48 roaming calls and texts (but not data) work while roaming in the US if that's of any use.
